Body Language
The Body language can be used to either
- express content or - structure a speech.
Gestures to use:
- Invite (open one or both arms to the side)
- Book pages (opening hands either side)
- Pantomime what you say (Point 3 https://www.instagram.com/p/DO3etvMkXLw/ )
- On the one hand, on the other
- Anker (A position on stage to represent something in your speech)
- Idea (grab idea from the air at eyehight)
- leveler (
- Watch more: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xmj1LBJu_Ss (first 2 minutes is enough)
Gestures to avoid:
- the T-Rex (holding your hands defensively in front of your upper body)
- the I don't know (raising both hands high on both sides)
- If you want to explicitly use this, go for it, but don't undermine your credibility by accidentally using it.
Choose and give a TT you feel comfortable with. Then consider which gestures would help in the speech to improve both the structure and the content you wish to express. You can choose gestures from above, but feel free to come up with more. Regive the speech with focus on the gestures
